epilogue!!!!!!!
Mood:  caffeinated
A YEAR LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jen, CJ, Jack, David, and Audrey were sitting at a table in Hell's Kitchen. They all had already had a few rounds and were waiting for the third to be delievered by the waitress.

"I'm such a loser," Audrey began, "I'm out on a Friday night with the four of you."

"What's so bad about that?" Jack asked, with mock-anger.

She took a sip from her beer and sighed, "I use to have stuff to do on Friday night. You know, a party, a particular boy...not just chilling with my roommate's friends."

David offered, "I, haven't even met your roommate, so there goes that theory."

"LIttle David, that's not the point."

"Stop it with the 'little' remarks, alright?" Jack contested.

Audrey smiled, "I'll take your word for it, Jackers."

Jack and David shared a look and said nothing.

CJ attempted to change the topic of conversation, "So, uh, Jen--"

Audrey promptly cut him off, "Where the hell is our bar wench?"

"I don't think Joey would appreciate that nickname." Jen offered, after giving CJ an apologetic look for being interupted.

David broke the silence a moment later, "Isn't your friend Pacey suppose to show?"

Jen glanced at her watch, "Yeah, actually. Like fifteen minutes ago."

"I'm going to the bathroom." CJ offered, excusing himself from the table.

Audrey waited until he was out of earshot, "Lindley, you've done good this time."

"UH, thanks," Jen muttered, opting not to mention all the boyfriends that Audrey had not ever met, thus not giving her the right to form such an opinion, "I'm glad you approve."

Jack put down his beer and offered, "I agree. Granted, he's no *Charlie*," Jack paused, starting to break out in laughter, "BUt he'll do."

Jen playfully smacked him as Jack continued laughing.

David asked, "WHo's Charlie?"

"Well..."

--

CJ returned to the table with their next round of drinks.

"Why are you..."

He interupted, "Joey's indisposed at the moment."

"And this, you would know, how exactly?" Jen asked.

"WEll," CJ paused, trying to think of a polite way to say what he needed to say.

Jack interupted, "THe bathroom, again?"

CJ nodded as he sat down.

"What?" Jen asked in confusion.

Audrey sighed, "Virginal little Jenny, our serving wench has disappeared not to parts unknown, but to the bathroom where Pacey is giving her a standing ovation."

DAvid nearly spit out his beer.

Audrey noted this and offered to Jack, "So that answers my question, whether or not your boy swallows."

Jen opted to chug half her beer and offer, "I really needed to hear *that*."

David attempted to change the subject, "UH, I think your friends need to get a room."

Jack offerd, "Audrey has banned them from the dorm."

Audrey nodded, "I'm all for a happy Joey, but I have seen them go at it enough already."

--

"Ladies, and CJ." Pacey offered, as he slid into a chair.

"I resent that." Jack offered.

Pacey just shrugged and then looked around him, "Where's the waitress, I want a beer."

"She's been *busy* tonight."

He raised an eyebrow and offered in mock seriousness, "OH, really."

"Hey guys," Joey interupted, "SOrry for the delay."

She gave them their drinks and let her eyes drift over to Pacey, "Do you want anything else?"

"Pacey wants something else...something off the menu.", Jack offered.

"That was lame." Jen muttered.

Pacey only smiled, "I'm good."

"God, you guys are so lame." Audrey chugged her beer and sighed as she pushed back her chair, "I'm leaving."

--

"Hey guys!"

Jack jumped up and surrounded his sister in a hug. And then, his eyes drifted behind her to her guest.

"Who in the--"

"Kruddy!" Pacey offered, jumping up to greet his old friend.

Jen stood to hug Andie and motioned for Joey from across the bar. The brunette made her way over and hugged Andie.

"It's been to long." Joey offered.

Andie sighed, "Well, with school and all, you should be glad I made it at all!"

David hugged her, "Yeah, you Harvard brat."

She smiled and introduced herself to CJ. They shook hands and they all got seated.

"So, Kruddy, Andie still hasn't dumped your ass?" Pacey offered, jokingly.

"Nah," Will offered, "But she constantly assures me that it will be anytime now."

Joey returned after having left to serve another table. With no extra chairs she just made herself at home on Pacey's lap.

"Easy there, Potter." He offered.

She smiled at him and settled in against him.

Andie smiled at her friends happily and sighed, "So, how have you all been?"

continuing the story....
Mood:  rushed
Dawson knew that Joey and Pacey had slept together in the past. And despite how such knowledge had disgusted him to his very soul, he had been able to move past it. Then, however, he had not had the visual aid he now had before him. He stood in the doorway frozen as the two continued about their business none the wiser.

Granted, they were rather loud so for them not to hear his knock or when he opened the door made sense. And neither of them were facing his direction, which would allow them to see him in the doorway.

He could not see much of Joey as it was. He saw a hell of a lot of Pacey, which he could have done without. His former "best friend" was presently taking his "soulmate" from behind. And by her shouts of approval, Dawson could only assume that it wasn't against her will. They were both equal participants.

But this evaluation of the situation did not provide Dawson any solace. So he did the only thing he could think of...

--

Audrey spotted Jack and Jen sitting at a small table drinking coffee.

"Hey babes," she paused and sat down, "Hope I'm not interupting."

Jack smiled, "So, Jen told me that the pirate wench outfit was yours?"

She smiled, "It's my lucky outfit. And if a guy is straight he always goes for it. And if you need proof of that then go to Joey's room."

Jen shook her head, "It couldn't have just been your lucky outfit, Audrey. Unless, of course, it has a delayed reaction with some men."

"If what I hear from Jen is true, its currently too crowded at Joey's place."

She smiled and sighed, "Thought it would be easier this way. I figured, a f--ked Joey would be a happy Joey. And as for Dawson, I could do without him," She paused, "Please explain to me what purpose he serves in your little group. Obviously, his absence for most of this semester proves beyond a reasonable doubt that you all can fuction just fine without him."

Jen offered, "Well in highschool--"

Audrey cut her off, "I mean now. I've already heard the whole story. THe three of them were friends, bad girl Jenny here screwed that all to hell. Then Jackers and his crazy sister mess that whole thing up even more. And then Pacey and Joey realize they are hot for eachother which pissed away what little was left of their dinky friendship. Then Pacey goes all wack-job--have you ever considered that maybe your sister's insanity was contagious?"

"Hey!" Jack offered.

"I tease," She paused, "I tease."

Jen offered, "Actually, Andie is the impetus that got those two back together."

"Excuse me, my name is Audrey."

Jack rolled his eyes and then explained, "Pacey and I have been working together to get Andie to come visit. Had we not be, Joey would not have questioned his sexuality, and--"

Jen interupted, "Caused Pacey to have to prove to Joey that he likes girls."

Jack finished, "Specifically her."

Audrey offered, "Sure, fine, whatever. But before you go give Andie all of the credit, just remember who left her room so that they could be alone."

"I think you deserve a coffee." Jen offered.

"Decaf." Jack added.

--

So Dawson did the only thing he could think of, he watched. And when they were done, he decided to make his presence known.

"Hope you both enjoyed yourselves..."

"Dawson..." Joey started.

"What in the hell," Pacey began, "You were watching us?"

"I thought it was an open invitation," He paused, looking pointedly at Joey, "The door was open...among other things."

"YOu bast-" Pacey started, getting up from the bed and starting towards him.

"Pacey!" JOey called after him

"No need to get up," Dawson paused, biting his lip briefly, "I"ll show myself out."

Dawson slammed the door leaving Pacey standing there. He turned to look at Joey who's head was buried in her hands.

"JOey..."

He sat down on the bed beside her and held her in his arms.

She looked up and their eyes met, "I'm not upset, Pacey...I mean, granted, I could have gone without him seeing us *together*, but I'm not ashamed of what we did and who knows it. And if Dawson still has issues with it then he's gonna have to figure them out by himself. Because you and I have let what Dawson thinks dictate our lives so much that we put our own happiness on the backburner. The happiest I am is when I'm with you. And if Dawson was my friend then he would see that and be happy...for both of us."

Pacey couldn't stop smiling, "You're serious?"

SHe nodded.

"Well, how about a celebratory romp in the sack for good measure?"

She smiled, "Only you could pull that off without cracking up."

"One of my many talents," He paused, "SO, you up for it?"

She smiled, "WEll, I see that you are, so I wouldn't want to disappoint."

THE END!

Mood:  don't ask
"So, coffee?" Audrey asked Jen as they walked away.

"Audrey, do you realize that if Dawson goes to Joey's room--"

She interupted, "Then he'll see her having sex with Pacey. Your point?"

Jen pulled her to a stop, "Audrey, I know that you haven't been around us all that long. But we as a group function best when we ignore past romantic ties , especially if our little group is not so stable and such mention of the past might shatter it."

"So, in English, your upset that I sent Dawson to right into the lion's den?"

"Yes."

Audrey had to stop herself from rolling her eyes, "You all aren't in highschool anymore. A little sex here and there shouldn't be such a monumental issue."

Jen sighed, "I'm just getting the hell out of here. I don't want to be here when it all blows up in your face."

Instead of actually listening to Jen's warning, Audrey broke out in laughter. Jen's choice of words had caused her to think of something dirty.

--

"So Andie is coming for a visit? That's it?" Jen asked.

Jack nodded, "But if you tell Pacey that I told you then I'm in deep shit."

Jen had to bit her lip for a moment, considering Jack's words and what Joey and she had assumed was going on between Jack and Pacey.

"What?" Jack asked, noticing Jen's reaction.

"Well, you see...Joey jumped to this conclusion about the two of you and she must have got to me in a moment of low caffine and she convinced me of it. And now, after hearing what you both were doing, I feel a bit like a dumbass."

"Explain."

"Well, you an Pacey have been spending a lot of time together..."

"And..."

"And, he's a boy and you like boys."

Jack nearly spit out his coffee, "YOu aren't serious?"

Jen nodded.

"No offense to Pacey, but he isn't exactly my type."

Jen smiled, "You have a type?"

"Yeah, Blond, tall, bass-players named Charlie usually do it for me."

It was Jen's turn to almost spit out her coffee.

"Seriously?" She paused and Jack nodded, "I knew he was too pretty."

After thinking about it another moment she offered, "But he's a ladies' man. He's had a revolving door of conquests in the past. I don't understand..."

"Obviously overcompensating for his feelings for boys." Jack offered.

"So you two..."

"No," Jack cut her off, "I wouldn't do that to you. It's just, well for lack of a better term, the Gaydar."

Jen smiled, "So he hasn't come onto you or anything?"

"Oh well, that's up to interpretation." He offered, not wanting to recall the event in question.

--

Dawson paused outside Joey's door and ran his fingers through his dirty-blond hair. He was nervous.

After his father had passed away and Dawson had left school to move back to Capeside, it had been ackward between the two of them. And whatever plans for reuniting had been put on hold. But after his misplaced anger had subsided, he needed his best friend...his soulmate...his everything.

So he had to try and makes things right between them again.

He knocked lightly on the door but heard no response. He put his hand on the doorknob and it allowed him to turn it. Knowing that Audrey wasn't there, so he could safely assume that he would not be walking into anything that wasn't his business, he opened the door.

Mood:  hug me
Audrey was asleep when Joey got back to her dorm. She slipped out of her shoes and flopped down on her bed. She quickly fell into a restless sleep.

--

"JOEY!" Audrey yelled, then shakes her furiously.

"Wha-Audrey?" Joey mumbled sleepily.

"You have a visitor. They are waiting out in the hall. So chug some mouthwash, run a comb through your hair, and out you go!"

Joey sat up, "What?"

Audrey handed her the mouthwash and a hairbrush. Dutifully, she did as she was told. When she opened the door, Pacey was there.

"Lookin' good, Potter." He said with a smirk, "Rough night?"

"Something in that vicinity," She mumbled, "So, what do you want?"

"Jack told me that you were gonna be in a play. And seeing as you did help me run lines on my stage debut, I thought that I would return the favor."

"Play..." Joey said to herself and then remembered Jen's lie, "Oh, well, I dropped out. I'm a horrible actress."

"Must agree with you there, Joe. In those Leery productions, how ever many moons ago, I was doing all the work. You just mulled around in your bikini and taunted me."

Joey rolled her eyes, "Anything else, Pace? I'm really not in the mood."

"Are you okay?" He asked, seriously.

She sighed, "You don't have to baby me. I know what is going on, what you and Jack have been up to. I'm happy for you Pace...but it just has made me realize that I'm just *not* happy."

Pacey looked at her with concern and confusion, "Joe?"

She wouldn't look at him, so he moved in her sight and took hold of her shoulders, "Joe?"

"What?" She offered, annoyed.

"What do you think Jack and I have been up to?" He asked, curiously.

"Aren't you, well...toget-"

"Joey? Its *me*, your *heterosexual* ex-boyfriend Pacey. I like *girls*. Doesn't my track record at all prove this? Where the *hell* would you even get the *idea*..."

Joey smiled widely, "Are you sure?"

"Yes! If I am sure of one thing, it is *most certainly* that."

She pulled him into a hug and Pacey wrapped his arms around her, despite still being very confused. When she pulled away from the hug he looked at her sternly.

"Explain."

"You've been spending a lot of time with Jack..."

He laughed, then sighed, "We've been working on getting Andie to come to Boston for a visit."

"Andie?"

"Yes. Female. Blond. Went to high school with us? Ex-girlfriend of moi, who I am sure, would most certainly vouch that I am in fact a ladies' man."

He sighed, "Is *this* why you and Jen have been acting so weird?"

She wordlessly nodded.

He pulled her into a hug, and whispered in her ear, "I'm still trying to process everything that happened last year. It hurts and I'm lonely, but I'm not *that* lonely."

She smiled and their eyes met, "I miss you Pace."

"I miss you Potter, more than words..."

Joey silenced him with a kiss.

"About time!" Audrey muttered from behind them.

They pulled away and turned to look at her.

"I'm going to the...library. I won't be back for at least a few hours. Catch you both, later." She smiled, and walked down the hall.

Pacey smiled wickedly, "This is not a good idea."

Joey started to back up into the room, clasping his hand and dragging him along, "It will only complicate things."

"As if they weren't complicated *enough*." He offered as she kicked the door shut behind him.

The back of her knees hit her bed, "You should go."

"That would be the logical thing to do." He sighed, wrapping an arm around her waist.

"Since when do you act logically?" SHe smiled, her lips inches from his.

"And I still don't think I've pr oven to you, beyond a reasonable doubt that I'm only interested in women."

"I'd have to see you in action." She whispered, their lips millimeters away.

"No complaints, here, Potter." He whispered before capturing her lips with his as they both fell down onto the bed.

--

"Jen!" Audrey shouted out, seeing the shorter blond heading in the opposite direction.

"Hey, Audrey. Is Joey at the dorm?"

Audrey sighed, "She's there but I'm pretty sure that she is busy."

"Busy?"

"*Busy*."

Jen raised an eyebrow, "Oh."

"Hey guys!" Dawson interrupted them, causing them to turn.

"Hey." The chorused.

"Why are you here?" AUdrey asked.

"I'm actually here to see Joey."

"That's not--" Jen began.

Audrey cut her off, "You know what, us blonds of this group never do anything just for us. We should have a blond day."

"A blond day?" Dawson repeated, confused.

Jen sighed, "Well, speaking of blonds, I have a very cute boyfriend that I've been meaning to visit with..."

"OH no, Jen Lindley!" Audrey said, grabbing her hand, and then Dawson's, "We are going to have fun, together."

"I really need to talk to Joey." Dawson offered.

Audrey realized that she didn't like Dawson all that much, and knowing his history with Joey and Pacey, sighed, "Fine. Be a *guy*!"

Releasing his hand she starting walking and dragged Jen away.

Dawson stared after them with curiosity before starting towards the dorm.

Mood:  bright
"Pacey?" Dawson calls out, seeing his friend camped out in front of Joey's dorm room.

"Hey, D-man, what brings you to Boston?"

"More importantly, do you generally hang out in front of Joey's dorm room?"

"Nah," Pacey offers, standing up, "I just really need to talk to her."

"Should I go? I can always--"

"It's not personal. And you came all the way from the Cape. I'll just talk to her later."

"What's going on?"

Pacey looks around, puts an arm around Dawson's shoulders, and leads him down another hallway.

"Jen and Joey are up to something."

"And..."

"I have ways of making Joey talk."

"Don't want to know." Dawson adds.

"Not whatever you are thinking, man," He paused, "More PG-rated."

Dawson looks at him curiously, "Don't you *work* or something?"

"I got today off," He glanced at his watch, "But I do need to go do something. Are you gonna be around?"

"Yeah..."

"See ya later, then."

Pacey takes off leaving a very confused and slightly intrigued Dawson in his wake.

--

"Jen!" Jack yells out, seeing her in the kitchen.

"I haven't had my coffee." SHe mumbles, and turns away to fiddle with the coffee machine.

"And I've got class, so I won't take up much of your time."

The coffee pot began brewing and she turns to look at Jack.

"What?"

"Why was Joey here last night?"

Her eyes grow wide, "Well, um..."

"You two don't generally hang out alone."

"Just girl stuff, talking about guys and painting nails...that stuff." Jen half-mumbled.

"Tell Joey she did a good job then." He offered and took off.

Jen looked down at her nails and noted that her pink nailpolish was cracked off in some places.

"Damn. See this is what happens when Jen does not get her coffee!" Jen says to no one.

--

"You got in late last night..." Audrey offered suggestively, "But you still maintain perma-scowl. You are sending me mixed-signals, Joey. Unless of course, it was successful until it got to the bedroom..."

"We didn't. I was just at Jen's."

Audrey throws a pillow at her, "Joey! I thought that it was clear that if you were gonna go that way then I would be your one and only!"

Joey turned to look at her, "Jen goes out with Charlie, the guy in the band that was at that party at the beginning of the semester."

"Convenient story."

JOey rolls her eyes and falls back on her bed.

"So, the verdict still out on Pacey and Jack?"

"Pacey was at Jen's last night and he was acting weird but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. And I don't know if it was just that I was there and everything between us, but...I don't know anymore. I mean I was with Jack and didn't have a clue."

"Bunny, you didn't sleep with Jack did you?"

Joey sat up, "No. But that doesn't mean anything. Jack had a girlfriend before me that he did sleep with."

Audrey sighed, "Alright, you don't have to ask. I'll do it."

"Do what?"

"Seduce Pacey, if at all possible."

"I didn't ask you to..."

"Bunny, this is what friends do."

"Seduce a friend's ex-boyfriend to see if he is in a homosexual relationship with another ex-boyfriend?"

"Yes."

Joey sighed, "No, Audrey. I don't want you to seduce Pacey."

"Will you let me have no fun!" Audrey yelled to no one.

Joey looked at her curiously and sighed, "I knew that eventually he had to move on. But he's being secretive about something and what else could it be? What else would he not want me to know?"

Audrey looked sadly at her friend, "You need to talk to him. No more games of cat and mouse. Your setting yourself up to get hurt."

"You're right." Joey admitted.

"Of course I am. Now go, make nice, bunny."

--

"So there is no male conspiracy that you are aware of?" Jen asked.

Dawson laughed, "No, sorry."

"But you are a guy. Maybe they would tell you what is going on."

"Whatever it is, I can tell you, without a doubt, that it is not a conspiracy to cover up a relationship between Jack and Pacey." Dawson offered, with a hint of laughter in his voice.

"I know it sounds stupid. I know. But the way they are acting...it is something."

"All of you are paranoid...must be something in the water here."

" 'All of you'? "

"I ran into Pacey this morning and he was convinced that you and Joey had something going on."

"Not..."

"NO! At least, he did not give me that impression. But if you were, you'd tell me, right?"

Jen slapped DAwson playfully and offered seriously, "Wouldn't you like to know."

Dawson raised an eyebrow.

--

About to knock on the door of Pacey's boat, Joey heard talking.

"I can't believe we did it!"

Joey's eyes grew wide. It couldn't possibly be...

"So, when should we tell them?"

Pacey offered, "Lets keep it to ourselves for a bit."

"They already know something is up."

Joey stepped back from the boat and took off into the night...

"Hello?" Pacey answered the phone.

"Hey, Pace. It's Jack."

"Hey."

"Sorry I wasn't here."

"No biggie. Although, you being there, would have saved me from my ackward encounter with Jen and Joey."

"What happened?" Jack asked, curious.

"I'm not exactly sure. But something really weird was going down."

"*Going down*?!?"

"Wrong choice of words, I assure you that is all that it was..."

"Okay," Jack laughed, "So what did happen?"

"Well, Jen didn't want me to go upstairs and was really weird about it. And then, when I attempted to go upstairs Joey appeared dressed like..."

"...a pirate wench?"

"That works. I guess you saw?"

"Yeah, both her and Jen are still downstairs."

"Were they acting odd?"

Jack thought about it, "A little."

"Do you think they know what's going on?"

"You didn't say anything did you?"

"No, me? You know me, my lips are sealed. You?"

"Of course not."

Jack sighed, "They must know something. WHy else would they be acting so weird?"

"I'm still trying to figure out the pirate wench outfit..." Pacey joked.

"Joey is going to be a play."

"Joey Potter? I don't think so."

"Now that I think about it, Jen told me that."

"Ah, and the plot thickens...Joey can't think much on her feet."

"But if they know, then why not just tell us?"

"Maybe that's not it at all, Jack. Maybe its something else..."

"Like..."

"Like I don't know...lesbian love affair?" He paused, "In my mind, that's what it is."

"Not interested." Jack offered.

"You wouldn't be would you." Pacey joked.

Jack ignored his slight, "And I don't think either Jen or Joey would be either."

"Get Joey a little drunk and she'll do a lot."

"Care to elaborate?" Jack asked with a wide grin.

"No, sir. What happens in the bedroom, or in this case the bathroom, and then the kitchen, stays there."

"The bathroom, that's gross."

"Not from where I was standing." Pacey answered with a smile.

"SO, lets not go there."

"Yeah. I'm sure if Joey found out I was talking about it she'd castrate me."

"Ouch."

"Yeah."

"So, what should we do about this?"

"Well get Will on Grace."

"What?"

"You and Jen are close. You know her. I'm sure that you can easily figure out a way to get her to crack."

"Why can't you work Joey?"

"With you and Jen, there is no romantic history. You are not in a delicate, post-breakup place that could easily turn ugly."

"True."

"So you do that."

"And what will you do?"

"I will, as a fellow actor, I'm sure you recall my glory days on the stage junior year, will ask Joey about her play."

"Good idea."

"Okay. Well, I'm gonna go. See ya tommorrow?"

"Yeah, you bet, Jack."

Mood:  amorous
"I knew I liked that girl," Jen began, "But her fashion sense leaves much to be desired."

Joey looked down at the outfit and sighed, "More material to be desired."

"You're eighteen, Joey, don't be a prude."

"I'm not a prude, I'm just not a slut."

"For the love of God, Joey..."

Joey raised and eyebrow, and Jen relented, "Fine, for the love of *whatever*, this is not that slutty."

Before she can reply, a knock at the door startles them both. They both look at eachother in curiosity .

"Oh, yeah, that would be the front door. I'll get that." Jen offered, and took off down the stairs.

When she opened the door she was surprised to find Pacey there. He smiled, "Hey Lindley."

She smiled uncomfortably, "Hey...I did't know you were stopping by."

"Yeah," Pacey started, running a hand through his hair, "I kinda told Jack I would help him with something."

"*Something* with *Jack*." Jen repeated.

"Yeah, can I come in?" Pacey said with a hint of confusion in his voice.

Jen moved out of the doorway, "Of course. Who am I to stand in the way of *you* and *Jack*."

"Are you okay?" Pacey asked, confused by the way she was acting.

"Fine. Just Fine. Do you want a drink or something? Because we have drinks. Always good to replenish fluids..." Jen's face reddened, "Because otherwise..."

"You'd be dehydrated?" Pacey completed her thought.

"Yes, yes indeed."

Pacey shook his head, "I'm good. But I'll keep in mind that you have drinks in case later find myself to be dehydrated."

"Good." Jen offeres, clumsily, as she realizes how much of a dumb ass she sounds like.

Pacey puts a hand on her shoulder, "Are you sure you aren't dehydrated? Maybe you need to sit down."

"I'm Fine." Jen offeres, just as she remembers that Joey is upstairs.

Pacey smiles awkwardly and starts towards the stairs.

"Pacey!" Jen yells, getting his attention. He turns and looks concerned and confused.

"You can't go upstairs."

"Why not?" Pacey asks, confused.

"Because....Grams is sleeping and if she doesn't get her rest then..."

"She'll be tired?"

"YEs, and in a bad mood...and she'll take it out on me and Jack."

"I'll be quiet Jen." He offeres and starts up the stairs.

He stops a few steps up when he notices Joey.

"Hey."

"Hey."

Pacey takes in her outfit and looks back down at Jen.

"What's going on?"

"What do you mean?" Joey asked.

"WHy is Jen acting weird and why are you dressed like...a prostitute?"

"It's Audrey's." Joey offers, saying the only thing she can think to say.

"So Audrey is here?"

"No."

"But you and Jen are."

"Yes."

"And she did not want me coming upstairs?"

Joey tries to look to Jen for a cue of some sort but the blond appears to have disappeared.

"You'd have to ask her."

Pacey clears his throat, "Is Jack here?"

"I think he's at the frat house."

"Oh," Pacey sighes, "Well, I guess I should go and leave you and Jen alone, and let Grams sleep."

"Mrs. Ryan isn't here."

"What the hell is going on?" Pacey asks, confused.

Joey blurts out, "What were you doing in Jack's room yesterday?"

"WHat's with the third degree?"

"What third degree? I'm just curious."

"I'm helping him out with something. But if he's not here, I'll just be going."

"You don't have to go because I'm here...you could stay and hang out."

Pacey eyed her suspiciously, "Do you want me to hang out. I wouldn't want to interrupt any plans you have with Jen."

"*Plans*? We have no plans."

"So you and Jen are..."

"Hanging out."

"I think I'll take a rain check. This is a little too weird for me."

Joey watches Pacey retreat down the stairs. A minute later she hears the door close. She walks the rest of the way down the stairs and Jen emerges from the kitchen.

"I could have used your help." Joey offers.

"*My help*, Joey? I thought the plan was for you to seduce him?"

"I didn't know he was gonna be there."

"When you seduced him?" Jen asked, slightly confused.

"No, I know that, I just meant now."

"Oh," Jen sighed, "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I acted like a complete idiot as well."

Joey sighed, "I don't think I can do this. I mean, our relationship is really complicated right now and I just don't think..."

"I get it Joey." Jen cut her off, "But how else can we check his heterosexuality?"

"You could..."

"No. I'm perfectly happy with my friendship with Pacey as well as my relationship with Charlie."

Before either of them could say anything else, Jack burst threw the front door.

"Hey guys."

"Sorry to disappoint you Jack, but there are no penises here."

Jack rose an eyebrow, "Well, I'm glad you clarified that."

"No problem." Jen offered.

It was then that Jack caught sight of Joey's attire.

"WHat's with the whole pirate wench look? Haven't really seen that on the runways in Milan."

"UH, Joey's in a play."

Joey turned to Jen and gave her a curious stare.

"I didn't know you were interested in acting." Jack offered.

"Well, apparently I am." Joey offered with a fake smile as she nudged Jen in the ribs.

"Has Pacey been by?" Jack asked, getting the attention of both girls.

"He was." Jen offered, quickly.

"SHit," Jack muttered, "I told him I might be late. I better go call him and let him know what's up."

Joey turned to Jen and raised an eyebrow.

"Yup, better let him know *what's up*." Jen offered.

Jack nodded and took off towards the kitchen.

"Something is definitely up." Jen said as soon as he was out of hearing distance.

"You don't mean..."

"Not essentially," Jen paused, "But something is definatly going on."

continue story!
"You were spying on Jack?" Jen began, on the verge of laughter.

"I know," Joey answered, feeling guilty, "But your grandmother said he brought a guy home and..."

Joey's blushed and tried to conceal it by taking a sip of her coffee.

Jen almost giggled, "You wanted him to be having sex."

Joey nearly spit out her coffee. Her blush reddened.

"I did not." She offered, unconvincingly.

"So, who was Jack *boinking*? Anyone I know?"

"*Boinking*, Jen, really? I think with your sexual history that you wouldn't feel the need to be modest and use such a term for something that you obviously know a lot about."

"I resent that." She said, half-heartedly, "But, sadly its true. I think I'm spending too much time with Grams. One must limit their vocab around her for fear of Bible quoting."

"That's what I said to Jack and Pacey!"

Jen put down her coffee, "Okay, I'm confused. Pacey? I thought Jack was getting some."

Joey tucked an arrant strand of hair behind her ear and sighed, "I never said that."

"But you implied it." Jen offered.

"I misconstrued the situation."

"Or maybe you didn't." Jen offered, raising an eyebrow, before concealing her grin by drinking from her coffee.

"Pacey isn't...", Joey struggled with her words, "He's not like that."

"Into guys? Likes getting it from behind? Friend of the co--"

"OKAY! I get it." JOey interrupted her, as red as a tomato.

Jen laughed at Joey's uncomfortableness and sighed, "So, what exactly did you misconstrue?"

"Well, as I was listening, I heard some things said that could lead one to believe that something was in fact going on."

"Between Jack and *Pacey*?" Jen offered with a hint of laughter in her voice.

"Yes." Joey offered curtly and then took a sip from her coffee.

"Were they talking dirty to eachother? Whispering sweet nothings in eachother's ears."

Defensively Joey scoffed, "You have a sick mind. You actually want them to be doing it."

"Can't a girl dream...from time to time, about friends, on a lonely evening...have hot man on man sex. You must admit that a scene like that is O worthy."

If possible, Joey was redder than before, "Jen. We're in a public place. There are people around."

"Lighten up, Joey." Jen offered with a sigh, "So, what things were said that got your brain going to naughty places?"

"Essentially, 'Get off, already' and 'God, Pacey'."

Jen raised an eyebrow, "That does paint a picture."

"Exactly." Joey said, before taking a sip from her coffee, "Not to mention that Jack's face was bright red when he opened the door."

"As if he had been participating in..."

Joey cut her off, "Yes."

"And how did Pacey look?"

"He was behind the door and I really didn't get that good of a look at him."

"Maybe he was hiding because he knew that if *you* saw him that *you* would *know*."

"Know what?" She asked, completely clueless.

"How he looks like *after*..."

"Jen." Joey cut her off, in an attempt to stop the conversation from getting any more embarrassing.

Jen smiled and leaned forward, "Joe, you have the key to unlocking this mystery."

Joey looked at her skeptically.

Jen continued, "Have you, in the past, had any experience where Pacey had trouble getting off?"

Joey knocked over her coffee and quickly grabbed a bunch of napkins to clean it up. When she had done the best she could, she glanced up at Jen to see her eagerly waiting for the answer.

Joey sighed, "No."

Jen smiled to herself before Joey added, "Actually, there was this one time..."

--

When Joey returned to her dorm, Audrey was sitting at her desk studying.

"What's wrong?" Joey asked.

"Nothing." Audrey asked, not looking up at her.

"You're studying."

"I have been known to do that." Audrey offered, curtly.

"O-Kay."

Joey threw her stuff down on her bed and flopped down on it herself.

"What's wrong?" Audrey asked.

Joey turned to look at her, "What?"

Audrey sighed, "Joey, I actually need to study. This test is more than 50% percent of my grade. I study only in complete silence. And you are making too much noise. So, please, enlighten me with whatever third grade problem is bothering you. I'll solve it, because thats what I do, and then you can leave and I can study."

Joey sat up, "Are you sure that nothing is wrong?"

Audrey rolled her eyes, "Out with it. I don't have all day."

Joey sighed, "Jen has got me convinced that Pacey and Jack are..."

"Are?"

"Together."

"As in..."

"Boyfriend, boyfriend."

Audrey started laughing, "Didn't you go out with Pacey?"

"YEah," Joey paused, "But I also went out with Jack."

Joey fell back against her mattress while Audrey laughed.

When Audrey's laughing ceased, she offered, "Pacey does dress a bit *colorful*."

"So you think?" Joey asked.

Audrey thought for a moment and sighed, "Not so much, Joey. How did Jen convince you of this anyway?"

"She didn't, really. But she got me wondering."

Audrey sighed, "Go try and sex up Pacey."

Joey sat up, "Excuse me?"

"Use those feminine whiles and go get some. Maybe it would do you some good as well, change that constant scowl of yours."

"What?"

Annoyed, Audrey sighed, "HAVE FUN AND GO GET SOME!"

Audrey stood and crossed the room towards her own closet. She shuffled through her things and pulled out an outfit and threw it at Joey. Joey looked at it distastefully.

"My *lucky* outfit. If he's straight, it'll work. And if it doesn't, then you have your answer."

Joey took a deep breath and held it for a moment before exhaling.

"You can do this." She muttered to herself before hitting the button for the doorbell.

A moment later Mrs. Ryan opened the door and smiled at her, "Josephine."

"Hi, uh, Mrs. Ryan, is Jen here?"

Evelyn stifled a laugh at the young woman still being a bit frightened of her.

"Dear, she is still at the radio station. But if you like you can wait inside. Jack is home."

"Oh, okay." Joey said with a shy half-smile before stepping over the threshold.

Mrs. Ryan closed the door behind her. Joey hesitated for a moment and started for the stairs. Mrs. Ryan stopped her, "Joey?"

"Yes Mrs. Ryan?" She said, turning to face the older woman.

"Jack came home with a young man. You might want to knock on his door if it is closed."

Joey smiled ackwardly and nodded before starting up the stairs. She thought it was funny that a few years ago Mrs. Ryan had had issues with Bodie and Bessie and now she allowed a homosexual to live with her. It was funny how things changed.

When she got to the top of the stairs and started down the hall she saw that Jack's door was in fact closed. Unaware that he had been seeing anyone, and nosy, Joey leaned her head up against the door to his room.

A muffled male voice said, "Get off, already!"

Joey's eyes grew wide and she stepped back from the door with a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter. Her face was stained red and she attempted to calm herself. She rose a hand to knock at his door and let it fall at her side. She put her ear up against the door again.

Jack's voice came through the thick door quite clearly, "God, Pacey!"

She backed away from the door in shock. She debated whether or not to leave and decided against it. She took a deep breath, exhaled, and knocked on the door.

A few minutes later, a very-redfaced Jack opened his door.

"Joey," He said, letting out a sigh of relief, "I thought you might have been Grams."

"No, I'm not. But don't get on my bad side or I'll recite scripture!" She attempted to joke.

"That was lame, Potter." Pacey voiced from behind the door.

"Josephine!" Mrs. Ryan called up the stairs.

Joey's face grew red, assuming that Mrs. Ryan had heard her quip about reading scripture."

Pacey emerged from behind the door and both he and Jack started laughing at Joey's reaction.

"Jennifer is here!"

She started towards the stairs with Pacey and Jack's laughing following her down the hallway. As she made her way down the stairs she could not help but wonder exactly *what* had been going on in Jack's room.

--

"Hey Joe." Jen offered brightly as she threw her stuff down on a chair.

"Hey," Joey smiled, noting Jen's demenor, "Have a good time at the radio station?"

Jen peeked into the other room to check on her Grams' location before whispering, "I wasn't at the radio station."

"Randevous with Charlie?"

Jen smiled guiltly.

"Leave the bedroom yet?"

"We got coffee on the way to his room...I cannot remember drinking it. I have a vague memory of leaving it on his desk..."

"I don't need to hear anymore."

"Here any more of what?" Mrs. Ryan offered as she entered the room, startling Joey to the point of making her jump.

"Nothing." Jen interjected, smiling guiltly, "I need--"

"--to get coffee?" Joey finished for her.

"Yes! Coffee, with Joey, we need to get that..." Jen said, picking up her purse.

"There is a fresh pot here..." Mrs. Ryan offered.

"Uh, Joey is allergic." Jen offered, grabbing Joey by the arm and dragging her out of the room.
